We Make Nonwovens Soft and Stretchy
VitaFlex LLC is a specialty material company building around a unique nonwoven elastication technology which was invented by Dr. De-Sheng Tsai, our company president and founder. We exclusively hold the technology, continue advancing elastic fabrics, and created a new-era manufacturing chain in North Carolina, from developing innovative materials to converting them into protective apparel.
The Elastic Nonwovens Technology creates useful elasticity from regular, stiff nonwoven fabrics while maintaining their breathability and barrier functionality. The technology and elastic nonwoven fabrics are globally co-patented with DuPont. There is no parallel technology and no similar or less costly elastic fabrics.
Our Latex-free Elastic Nonwoven Fabrics are the breakthrough material that gives a soft and stretchy structure. When stretched within the engineered range, the intertexture fibers shift position but do not create pin holes. The ultrafine gaps between fibers in their thin, yet dense, fiber-composite structure allow air to flow through while blocking particles to provide filtration functionality. By using these elastic nonwovens, protective hoods can be made form-fit without attaching elastic components. They also allow the manufacturing process to be fully automated for mass production and low cost.
Innovation of Multi-functional Fabric Structures: Treating a piece of woven textile for multiple functionalities is difficult, if not impossible. However, by bonding individually treated elastic nonwoven fabrics into multi-layer structures, apparel can be economically made with various combinations of functionalities while maintaining an effective isolation barrier next to the skin with a comfortable, soft form-fit and easy breathability. We have proved this concept by manufacturing a series of soft-stretch hoods (Dust Hoods, Spray hoods, UV Hoods, and BioSafety Hoods) to meet the safety requirements of various industries.
The Pioneer Plant has long history as a major yarn preparation and weaving plant and today still actively supplies package dyeing services for virtually all yarn counts and fiber contents. VitaFlex shares a small corner with two yarn processing companies (CS Carolina and American Yarns) in the old Pioneer Plant that Burlington Industries® built in 1923.
